Carolina Hoping for Major Improvement at Safety with Veteran Addition

Ok, so it's not official, but signs are pointing to the Panthers signing veteran safety, former Buc, and resident ugly dude, Major Wright.  The veteran strong safety worked out for the Panthers at the end of practice. Some initial reports were that he was signing, but that story has changed to the contract discussion being held before the workout, which implies they are at an agreement over the price and now Carolina just needs to inspect the merchandise.

Adding a safety to the roster shouldn't come as a surprise. Back-up Dean Marlowe has been injured. Back-up Marcus Ball has been injured and unimpressive, and starter Tre' Boston hasn't shown tremendous consistency. The Panthers worked out a couple of safeties earlier in the week, Donte Whitner and Stevie Brown.

Neither have signed yet, and head coach commented on Wright as an option because Marlow isn't ready and Wright has played in a similar defensive system.

So what to the reporters is currently speculation, my sources say Wright will sign with the Panthers.  Oh, here's my source and it's Big Money.
