Week7 C3FF Minter League Recap

Week 7, unlike the previous week, had a number of very close contests. The three I chose for this week ALL were decided by fewer than 7 FP. My own horrible luck continued, as you'll see below:

As you can see, I lost by 6.5 FP. Heading into the Monday Night Football game, I needed 22 FP from DeAndre Hopkins and Lamar Miller combined. We see how that went! The old saying "Never bench your studs" cost me this time, as I had seriously considered starting Mike Wallace in place of the slumping Hopkins...Hopkins is fine; it's Brock Osweiller who is having the rough time, and it affects the entire offense.

That said, Spencer Ware notched another big game with 24 FP while QB Drew Brees had a rare road explosion with 25 FP. WR Michael Crabtree continues to be my best "value" pick from the original draft, putting up 19 FP.

For the winners, who overcame a whopping 5 FP from starting QB Joe Flacco, some oddball heroes emerged for him. Jeremy Hill led the team with 32 FP, followed by Flacco's defense who bailed him out somewhat with 20 FP. NYJ WR Quincy Enuwa put up 19 filling in for injured Eric Decker, and TE Jack Doyle added 17.5 FP.

This game gives me a 3-4 record, despite having the scoring lead in my division with 887 FP scored, underlining what I said just last week about the large role pure luck plays in Fantasy Football. While you can certainly control your OWN FP scored, you have no control over those scored of opponents' players. It just so happens, apparently, that opposing players have huge games when they play me. Nothing at all I can do about that.

Here, Ginn and Juice defeated Show me your TDs 114-111.

Ginn & Juice was led by QB Andy Dalton with 25 FP, Randall Cobb with 23.5, and then the great Antonio Brown with 15.5, despite having no Big Ben throwing the ball. Show me your TDs was led by David Johnson with 27 FP, T.Y. Hilton with 23.5, and Tom Brady with 18.

In the third contest, we find a bit lower-scoring affair where ImaClassicCam defeated Summertime, and the Livins Ezek, 95-92.

ImaClassicCam was led by DeMarco Murray with 25.5 FP, followed by Brandin Cooks with 14.5 and Jarvis Landry with 11.5.

Summertime had a huge game from A.J. Green with 29 FP, but he was the only player (other than PK Justin Tucker with 14 FP) to have an above-average game. Phillip Rivers had 15 FP and WR Demaryius Thomas had 13 FP.

Lots of tight games this week. Sorry to be late in posting this, but I'm still "cleaning up" from hurricane Matthew, gathering free firewood while the getting is still good, and making a growing list for the home insurance claim when the adjuster arrives next Monday.

What fun!
