Cam Newton Wins MVP, AP Offensive Player of the Year Award. Both First In Panthers History.

Cam Newton

Cam Newton has won the Most Valuable Player award and Offensive Player of the Year award. Newton garnered 18 of 50 votes for Offensive Player of the Year award and 48 of 50 votes for the MVP award. Antonio Brown finished second with a total of ten votes in OPOY while Brady and Palmer each received one vote.

Newton has led the Panthers to a 15-1 record with 35 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns with only 10 interceptions.  He ended the season with 3,837 passing yards and 636 rushing yards. Cam is the first player in NFL history with more than three seasons of at least 3,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards. He's done it in each of his first five seasons in the NFL.

Tomorrow, Newton will look to help bring Charlotte their first Super Bowl victory since entering the league in 1995. If successful, this will thrust this Carolina Panthers team and franchise into the history books.

Head coach Ron Rivera also won his second Coach of the Year award in three seasons. He won it in 2013 after a 12-4 season which included a previous franchise best 8 game win streak after starting 1-3.
