When Dave Gettleman drafted his two back-to-back hog-mollies, Star Lotulelei and Kawaan Short, in 2014, there wasn’t much sexy to it. I mean they are hog-mollies, right? It was clear Carolina was weak up the middle defensively prior to the arrival of Star Lotulelei and Kawaan Short. Picking defensive tackles isn't really ever sexy, but the need for the big bodies showed as Carolina's defense stifled the run and frustrated quarterbacks all season. Neither has had the success they enjoyed in their rookie years because of Carolina's overall defensive decline. We have seen a 14 more games out of these guys, however.
