Ranking the Top 10 Current Panthers

Ranking the Top 10 Current Panthers

Football fans his time of year are consumed (and rightfully so) with NFL draft-talk.  Time to mix it up a little bit.  Our friends at www.panthersbr.com (Brazilian Panther fans) and I were talking and they asked who we thought the best 10 current Panthers are.  That got me thinking and I thought I’d put forth my list and I’d love to hear yours. There sure is to be a debate about this one.

The Panthers Grab A Peanut after Dropping The Ball

The Panthers followed through on their desire to use Free Agency to set up the Draft.  They don't want to "have to reach to fill a need" in the draft.  One glaring need is at Corner Back.  Depth is non-existent which is frightening.  Earlier in Free Agency the Panthers tried to sign last year's 40th Ranked CB in Allan Ball from Jacksonville.  At the last minute, Ball goes to Chicago for more money.

Interestingly enough, the Panthers then sign a CB from the team that picked up the Ball that we dropped.  The Panthers sign Charles "Peanut" Tillman to a one-year deal.  Former team mate and current Panther standout Greg Olsen likes the signing:

Here's a few things that you may or may not know about Tillman:

-  He went to the same University as our very own Jake Delhomme (University of Louisiana Lafayette) Though not at the same time.

-  Tillman was a Military brat growing up.  Attended eleven schools.  Lived in Germany for bit.(Very relatable to Coach Rivera)

-  Has 42 forced fumbles.  No Panther has more than 29. (J Peppers)

-  Has 36 career INTs.  No Panther has more than 27. (Chris Gamble)

-  Tillman was the Walter Payton Man of The Year Award winner in 2014. (Thomas Davis won in 2015)

Tillman has missed much of the last two seasons after tearing his tricep twice and is 34 years old.  He is not the long-term answer.  However, adding a high character guy to the locker room is never bad.  And should he stay healthy, we may just may be grateful that we dropped the Ball and added Peanut.  I am happy to have him on the team.  Let me know your thoughts on the matter.

As many of you know, aside from my passion of being a part of CatChronicles, I am also the Panthers’ Draft Analyst for DraftTek.  This week’s 7-Round Mock Draft was especially pleasing to me and I wanted to share how it came about.

After Dropping The Ball, The Panthers May Have To Target A CB Early

After Dropping The Ball, The Panthers May Have To Target A CB Early

Conventional wisdom says that Carolina will draft an OT and WR in the first two rounds.  After looking and seeing how the Panthers “dropped the Ball” in Free Agency, I expect one of those two rounds to be spent on a CB.

Safety Landon Collins Working Out With Carolina Panthers

Safety Landon Collins Working Out With Carolina Panthers

The same day after C3’s Mel Mayock, the cooler cousins to Mike Kiper, mocked Landon Collins to the Carolina Panthers, NFL.com announced that Collins has a private workout scheduled with the Panthers.  Coincidence…..I think not, just like Mel Mayock and Mike Kiper aren’t coincidental nicknames.  And for the internet snoods, we like to have fun around here—so everyone has a nickname, even those who shop at the iSnoods store.

Due to popular demand we are putting out C3 Mock 2.0.  This version takes into account the first full week of Free Agency and there has been some movement.  Smokewagon is back making his picks along with me in the First Round.  We each give insight as to why we think each one makes sense.  And as usual, we look at some of these selections from a Panthers Fan point of view, but no matter who you are a fan of, take a look and let us know your thoughts.
