Panthers Look to Jump-Start Pass Rush Against Struggling Saints Offensive Line

Panthers Look to Jump-Start Pass Rush Against Struggling Saints Offensive Line

If there’s been one kink in Carolina’s defensive armor, it’s been the lack of a consistent pass rush. Graded -1.3 and ranked #23 by ProFootballFocus, the Panthers pass rush hasn’t produced results.  Kawaan Short and, rotational end, Mario Addison have been the lone bright spots, but Carolina’s starting defensive ends haven’t generated much. Charles Johnson was invisible as a rusher against Houston, and Kony Ealy may still be drawing penalty flags.

Why Cameron Artis-Payne Could See Snaps Against Texans in Home Opener

After a great showing through out the preseason from Cameron Artis-Payne, many people predicted him to get his share of snaps in the week one opener against Jacksonville. Well, that didn't happen. In fact, he got nothing at all. He could possibly see some  snaps against the Texans this week depending on how the run game and Cam's backfield protects him.

Block Someone! Oher...Not Leads League Muhammed after Week One

Week One of the NFL season always provides both unexpected fantasy stars as well as fantasy duds. This week, in the #C3FF my own team went the "fantasy dud" route, despite being filled with starters and stars, while Block Someone! Oher...Not laid the lumber to the rest of the league with an astonishing 150.5 FP!

"Undrafted" to Feature Carolina Panther Brandon Wegher

"Undrafted" to Feature Carolina Panther Brandon Wegher

Brandon Wegher has been a sensation throughout the Carolina Panthers preseason.  With 3 TDs, 10 carries for 39 yards, and 2 receptions for 47 yards.  He's arguably been the biggest surprise to this point. It's made him an instant fan favorite, where a loud voice is actively campaigning for Wegher to make the 53-man roster.

Why Panthers backfield could hold toughest decisions on 53 man roster

Why Panthers backfield could hold toughest decisions on 53 man roster

Depth was one of the questions surrounding the Panthers backfield after releasing franchise leading rusher DeAngelo Williams this offseason. With training camp and two pre-season contests in the books, the position is quickly looking to be one of the tougher cuts to make in getting to the final 53-man roster.

With Jonathan Stewart getting limited reps in the first two exhibition games, the backups have seen their fair share of reps. Three of these five other backs are rookies, two of which went undrafted (Brandon Wegher and Lee Ward).

No Practice Squad for Brandon Wegher, Damiere Byrd, or Jordan Todman

No Practice Squad for Brandon Wegher, Damiere Byrd, or Jordan Todman

Just two weeks ago, neither Brandon Wegher nor Damiere Byrd had an inside shot at making the Panthers 53-man roster.  Jordan Todman wasn’t a lock either.  Fozzie Whitaker looked in solid control of the 3rd down back spot, and Corey Brown had edged himself in as a starter.
After two 4th quarter preseason comeback wins where Wegher, Byrd, and Todman played notable roles, these guys are on the fast track to making the 53-man roster.

Panthers Preseason Opener: More Questions Than Answers

Panthers Preseason Opener: More Questions Than Answers

It wasn’t the crisp start we had hoped for Carolina. Matt Cassel moved the ball effectively against the Panthers first team defense, which failed to generate any real pressure. Picking on veteran corner, Charles Tillman, who played noticeably off opposing receivers, exploiting AJ Klein at times, and running adequately against the Panthers front, Carolina started the game flat.

Fantasy Football: Fantasy Impact of NFC South Rookies

Fantasy Football: Fantasy Impact of NFC South Rookies

The NFC South struggled last season in the fantasy football department. There were only six players that finished the 2014 season (Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Mike Evans, and Greg Olsen) ranked in the top 10 for their positions overall. Drew Brees took a small step back and was the sixth ranked quarterback with 302.98 fantasy points. Greg Olsen had a great year and was the 4th ranked tight end. The biggest surprise was the positive impact of rookie wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin, and Mike Evans.

Now that the NFL Draft is over which NFC South rookies will have the biggest fantasy football impact?
