Carolina Panthers: Fantasy Football Projections Week 14

I hope that you made it past the first round of your fantasy football playoffs. I squeaked by with a two point victory! My team struggled because Peyton Manning decided to take the week off, and Andre Ellington got hurt again. This is what happens when the season is almost over and the playoffs are on the way. This is a big problem with fantasy football. If you are the commissioner you need to start the playoffs earlier to make sure that your team is healthier, and giving 100% effort.

In week 13, the Carolina Panthers found another way to lose against the Minnesota Vikings. So, what is going to happen this week when they play the New Orleans Saints? Will this be a repeat of the game back on October 30th, where the Saints beat us 28-10? As a Panthers fan, I hope not! The Saints have one of the worst defenses in the NFL, but make up for it with their powerful offense. Which Panthers team will show up this Sunday?

My Week 14 Projections:

  • Cam Newton: 17 pts (215 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 30 rushing yards)

  • Kelvin Benjamin: 16 pts (100 yards, 1 touchdown)

  • Jonathan Stewart: 13 pts (75 rushing yards, 1 touchdown)

  • Greg Olsen: 10 pts (45 yards, 1 touchdown)

  • Philly brown: 9 pts (35 yards, 1 touchdown)

  • Jerricho Cotchery: 4 pts (40 yards)

  • Panthers Defense: 2 pts

My Week 14 Recommendations:

Must Start: Kelvin Benjamin

50/50 Start: Greg Olsen

Sit: Cam Newton, DeAngelo Williams (Injured), Jerricho Cotchery, and Panthers Defense

Sleepers: Jonathan Stewart, Philly Brown

The New Orleans Saints are 5-7 and sit in first place of the NFC South. If you are starting a defense against the Saints, you might suffer the consequences. If you have players who are playing against the Saints, then your players have a good chance of producing double digit fantasy points.

The only must start this week is Kelvin Benjamin. The saints defensive secondary allows 268.4 passing yards per game, so count on Benjamin having a big week. I have Olsen a 50/50 start because tight ends have not been getting a lot of fantasy points this season against the Saints defense. Also Olsen is not playing at 100%. I believe in Olsen, but not the Panthers offense. I have Cam Newton scoring 17 points but he is only averaging 13.4 fantasy points. The Saints defense is weak, but so is the Panthers offense. Stay away from Newton, DeAngelo Williams, Jerricho Cotchery, and the Panthers defense. If you are looking for injury help, you can look to Jonathan Stewart and Philly Brown. They could be decent flex options this week. Stewart rushed for over 80 yards last week, and I can see this trending upward. Philly is due for at least one or two longs balls per game. It's the playoffs... be smart!

What happened in week 13?

  • Philly brown: 9 pts (30 yards, 1 touchdown)

  • Jonathan Stewart: 9 pts (35 rushing yards, 1 touchdown)

  • Jerricho Cotchery: 6 pts (60 yards)

  • DeAngelo Williams: 5 pts (53 rushing yards)

  • Panthers Defense: 4 pts

Week 13 Results (According to ESPN):

  • Greg Olsen: 5 pts (5 receptions, 59 yards)

  • Panthers Defense: 4 pts (31 PA)

My Week 13 Review:

The Carolina Panthers offense decided to hibernate when they went to Minnesota to play the Vikings. The Panthers only scored a total of 13 points. The only touchdown was a 32 yard pass from Cam Newton to Philly Brown. Philly had nine fantasy points and Newton only had 13. Stewart had a big day for Panther standards, and finally scored 10 fantasy points.

Who will have a bigger game: Melvin Ingram or Jonathan Stewart?
